The von Jenner family is a Bernese patrician family that has owned the city of Bern as a citizen since around 1500 .

history

From 1518 to 1798, the Jenner sat continuously in the Grand Council of the City of Bern, and from the 17th century onward mostly in the Small Council. The Jenner distinguished themselves as magistrates and officers, but also as architects. In 1716, Emperor Charles VI. the family to the nobility. The Jenner have been managing the nobility since 1785, based on the Bernese nobility decree of 1783. Family members owned the rulership of Utzigen and Bümpliz, and later also the castles Riggisberg , Kiesen and Capard House (Ireland).

The still flourishing branch of the family belongs to the Middle Lions Society , while extinct branches also belonged to the Zunft zum Mohren and the Zunft zum Affen .
