The Zunftgesellschaft zum Affen is one of the 13 old artisan societies and guilds (guild society of stonemasons and stone carvers) in the city of Bern and a public corporation guaranteed by the constitution of the canton of Bern . It is a civil corporation within the meaning of Bernese municipal legislation and is subject to the supervision of the cantonal authorities. As a community of persons, it has no territory of its own and no tax privilege. It includes all burgersvon Bern, who also have the company law (called "room law") on monkeys. The Zunftgesellschaft zum Affen is responsible for social welfare tasks for its guild members living in the canton of Bern and is taxable for the canton. The guild gains the necessary financial means from the management of its assets, which mainly consist of properties in the city of Bern.

The guild house is located at Kramgasse 5 in Bern's old town and is easily recognizable by the red monkey on the facade.

The Zunftgesellschaft zu Affen first appears in the sources as the brotherhood of stone masons in 1321, making it one of the oldest guild societies in the city of Bern and Switzerland.
