Jenny Beeck

Jenny Beeck (born August 9, 1885 in Halle (Saale) ; † February 15, 1968 there ) was a German teacher and politician ( LDP ).

Life

Jenny Beeck was the daughter of Alfred Beeck, the lecturer in poultry farming at the University of Halle . After graduating from school, she devoted herself to household and commercial work. In the years from 1912 to 1914 she passed exams as a teacher of house and agriculture and needlework. In 1915 she entered the municipal school service in Halle and was appointed specialist teacher for housekeeping in 1921. She was particularly involved in youth care, the creation of after- school care centers and the establishment of the ninth school year and was active in the teachers' movement of the Weimar Republic .

After the seizure of power of Adolf Hitler in 1933 she was dismissed on racial grounds from the teaching profession. During the time of National Socialism she made herself available for nursing work.

She was rehabilitated in 1945, returned to school and became the rector of Halle. Jenny Beeck joined the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDP) in 1945, was a member of the State Women's Council of Saxony-Anhalt and was a member of the state parliament for the LDP from 1946 to 1950 . As a member of her party, she was involved in the state women's committee in 1946/1947 and in 1947 in the establishment of the Democratic Women's Federation of Germany (DFD) in the Soviet occupation zone and in Saxony-Anhalt. From 1947 she was councilor in Halle. In March 1950, she resigned her parliamentary mandate and withdrew from her political offices in the party and in the DFD.
