Jenny Tomasin

Jenny Tomasin (born March 22, 1938 in Leeds , West Yorkshire , † January 3, 2012 in Camden , London ) was an English actress who became known for her roles in The House on Eaton Place ( Upstairs, Downstairs ) and Emmerdale .

life and career

She got her first major role in the 1970s in the television series Upstairs, Downstairs as Ruby, the kitchen maid of the Bellamy family. She played the role in 41 episodes from 1972 to 1975. There were plans for a spin-off series with Ruby and the film characters Hudson and Mrs. Bridges; however, the series was never produced because actress Angela Baddeley passed away. Tomasin's later television appearances mainly consisted of discussions about her time in upstairs, downstairs and her difficulties in professional life.

In 1985, Tomasin guest-starred as Tasambeker on the television series Doctor Who in the final episode before the series went on an 18-month hiatus.

Tomasin also played two roles on the Emmerdale soap opera . From 1981 to 1982 she played Naomi Tolly, daughter of Enoch Tolly, who was killed in a tractor accident. Her second role was Noreen Bell, a Canadian villager who died in July 2006. This was her last role.

In the BBC series The Onedin Line , Jenny Tomasin played the sacked seamstress Mrs. Purvis in the episode "In der Mafia".

Tomasin also had some appearances in films such as The Adventures of Barry McKenzie (1972), Mister Quilp (1975), The Trouble with Spies (1987) and Just Ask for Diamond (1988).

Jenny Tomasin died on January 3, 2012 of complications from heart disease.
