Jens Holmboe (born May 5, 1880 in Tvedestrand , Aust-Agder , † September 25, 1943 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian botanist . Its botanical author abbreviation is " Holmboe "; earlier the abbreviation “ Holmb. " in use.

Holmboe came from a family of scientists and politicians. After completing his studies, he was an assistant at the Botanical Garden in Tøyen from 1902 to 1906 . At the Bergen Museum he became a curator in 1906 and a professor in 1914. From 1907 to 1925 he was also director of the museum before moving to the University of Oslo , where he was also responsible for the botanical garden.

Holmboe published the popular science journal Naturen from 1906 to 1925 . In addition, he published frequently, including the main work, the six-volume Våre ville planter together with Torstein Lagerberg from 1937 to 1940, which appeared in new editions from 1950 to 1955. In 1902 he had already received the Crown Prince's H. K. H. Gold Medal .
