biography

Career

Bulloch was born in 1945 as one of six children in Market Harborough, a town in the English county of Leicestershire. At the age of five he was on stage for the first time as part of a school program. After failing an exam at age eleven, he entered the Corona Academy Drama School. A year later, he appeared in a cereal commercial for the first time.

In 1963 he had the breakthrough with Holiday for you and me . After he had taken on the leading role in the musical Las Leandras in Madrid in 1969 , the films The Virgin and the Gypsy (1970) and Maria Stuart, Queen of Scotland (1971) followed. Bulloch played a supporting role in three James Bond films ; in two of them he assisted Quartermaster Q as Smithers .

Finally, he was offered the role of Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 , which he also took on three years later in the sequel The Return of the Jedi . In The Empire Strikes Back , he did not speak the character himself, but was dubbed Jason Wingreen . His voice was in turn replaced in 2004 in the re-release of the film by that of Temuera Morrison . Shortly thereafter, the television series Robin Hood was broadcast, in which Bulloch played Edward of Wickham recurring. His son Robbie Bulloch also played a role in the series. With Doctor Whohe also gained some notoriety. His work for film and television includes more than 100 productions.

His role as Boba Fett also earned Bulloch an appearance in the 2005 third episode of Star Wars. After playing the supporting character of the Imperial Officer Sheckil in The Empire Strikes Back , he now appeared as Captain Colton. In these two roles - unlike Boba Fett, who wore a helmet - Bulloch's face could be seen. However, since there were more than twenty years in between, his multiple contributions were hardly noticed. In Episode III , he was on set with Morrison, who played Boba's father Jango and who voiced Bulloch himself.

Private life

Bulloch was married to his wife Maureen and lived with her in London . His sister Sally and son Robbie are also actors. He has two other sons. His half-brother Robert Watts was involved in the production of all parts of the so-called Classic Trilogy of Star Wars and played the role of the Imperial Lieutenant Watts himself.

With the character of Boba Fett, Bulloch gained high fame and, accordingly, a lot of fan mail. He always tried to answer these personally.

The Star Wars fan association 501st Legion accepted Bulloch as an honorary member in 2002 and as an official member from 2009. He appeared together with some also involved in the films at events of the organization and regularly used his Boba Fett costume.

He died of Parkinson's disease in mid-December 2020 at the age of 75 .
