Jeronimas-Ralys-Gymnasium Jonava ( lit.Jonavos Jeronimo Ralio gimnazija ) is a Lithuanian high school in Jonava , in the Lietava district .

history

In 1919 the Progymnasium Jonava was founded. In 1923 the school had its first graduate series. In 1941 the Progymnasium merged with Primary School No. 1. The school was opened in the city center and built in place of the destroyed Orthodox churches (the Jonava Art School is now in the former school building ). The Jonava Middle School began its activity in the school year 1947/1948 . The Soviet educational system was introduced from 1949 to 1950. There was 11 year old secondary school. There was a Russian-speaking class at each level. The school had its own dormitory and library.

In 1968 a new building for Jonava Middle School was built. The school became the 1st Jonava Middle School. October 1993 she got the name of Jeronimas Ralys (1876-1921), doctor and translator. In 1996 the school was consecrated by the Catholic district dean Jonavas and a museum was opened. In the school year 2004/2005 1326 pupils studied in 47 classes. From 2008 onwards, primary education was abandoned . In September 2011 the school became a high school (9–12 grades).

In 2012/2013 there were 780 students, a total of 28 school classes . Russian, German and English (as foreign languages) are taught in the grammar school.
