Juozas Storpirštis

Juozas Storpirštis (born May 28, 1947 in Vilkaviškis , Lithuanian SSR ) is a basketball referee of FIBA , sports educator and local politician, former vice mayor .

Life

After graduating from high school in Marijampolė in 1965 , Juozas Storpirštis graduated from Lietuvos kūno kultūros institutas in 1969 . From 1969 to 1970 he was a coach at the Marijampolė Sports School. From 1971, Juozas Storpirštis taught as a gym teacher and basketball - coach at the first middle school in Jonava (now Jeronimas-Ralys Gymnasium Jonava ).

1968 Storpirštis was Lithuanian champion in basketball with BC "Atletas" Kaunas . He was the coach of BC "Statyba" Jonava. He has been FIBA's referee since 1984 and FIBA's commissioner since 2000; technical commissioner of the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL).

From 1998 Storpirštis was a member of the Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija . From 2000 to 2003 was a member of the city council of Jonava Rajonggemeinde . From 2004 to 2007 he was the deputy mayor of the Jonava district. In 2011 he took part in the local election in the list of Lietuvos valstiečių liaudininkų sąjunga and in 2015 of Lietuvos valstiečių ir žaliųjų sąjunga . He was a member of Valstiečių liaudininkų sąjunga .

Juozas Storpirštis is married. With his wife Dalija he has the children Remigijus and Mantas.
