Jerry Bresler (born April 13, 1912 in Denver , † August 23, 1977 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer .

Live and act

Bresler attended Swarthmore College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts . Once in Hollywood , he was hired by the small company Supreme Pictures Corporation. With his own tiny production company Tower Productions, Bresler began making (initially short) films on his own, including a live-action 16-millimeter version of the popular Pinocchio fabric. From 1939-1942 Bresler worked as a location manager and production assistant on films such as Ernst Lubitsch's The Shop Around the , girls in the spotlight ( Ziegfeld Girl ) with Hedy Lamarr , the two Fred Zinnemann -Frühwerken The Gentleman Killer ( Kid Glove Killer ) and the track in the dark as well as several Dr. Kildare films involved.

Coinciding with its first independent production, with Sam Coslow short film produced Heavenly Music of 1944 , Bresler was an Oscar in the category "Best Short Film" take delivery (two rolls of film). In 1945 and 1947 , two more Oscar nominations followed, for the short films Main Street Today and The Luckiest Guy in the World . From then on, Jerry Bresler produced full-length feature films, which initially mostly had B-format. It was only in later years that he made bigger-budgeted A-films like The Vikings , Sierra Charriba and the James Bond parody Casino Royale . With Jerry Bresler Productions, the man from Colorado had his own film production company again from 1960.

In 1965, Bresler was part of the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) . Bresler is often confused with the composer of the same name, who lived from 1914 to 2000.
