Jerry Franck

Jerry Franck (born April 16, 1986 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg cameraman and filmmaker. It was mainly through the Short Documentary Chau, Beyond the Lines known, for which he, together with the director, his wife Courtney Marsh , at the Academy Awards 2016 in the category of Best Short Documentary was nominated.

Life

Jerry Franck was born in Luxembourg City and went to Belair to the primary school . He then visited several high schools on campus Geeseknäppchen. He graduated from college in France and then moved to the United States. There he trained as a cameraman at Columbia College Hollywood and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in film. He especially specialized in steadicam . He then worked with filmmakers such as James Franco , Gina Cassavetes and Jeff Schaffer , among others . He also worked on various music videos for Drake , Mr. Big and Social Distortion, among others .

Together with his wife Courtney Marsh, he first wanted to make a film about street children in Vietnam. During the preparations, the two met Chau, who was suffering from the aftermath of an Agent Orange attack during the Vietnam War . Despite his disability, the young man wanted to become an artist and designer. The couple eventually made this young man the main character in their documentary short film Chau, Beyond the Lines . The film was nominated for Best Documentary Short at the 2016 Academy Awards, but lost to A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness .
