Jesús Alberto Dátolo (born May 19, 1984 in Carlos Spegazzini ) is an Argentine football player . He has been under contract with the Brazilian club SC Internacional since winter 2012 .

In the club

The attacking midfielder began his career with Cañuelas in the fourth highest Argentine league. In 2002 he moved to CA Banfield in the Primera División . On August 29, 2004, he made his debut in the Argentine top division in the away game against Arsenal de Sarandí , which ended goalless. There he developed into one of the team's most important performers within a few years. In the summer of 2006 Dátolo moved to the Argentine top club Boca Juniors for one million euros . The midfielder has been part of the Boca Juniors' regular formation since the 2007 Torneo Apertura. He won the 2007 Copa Libertadores and the Torneo Apertura with Boca in 2008.

On January 31, the traditional Italian club SSC Napoli acquired it for a transfer of over five million euros. He signed a five-year contract with the southern Italians. He made his Serie A debut on February 14, 2009 in the game against FC Bologna . He scored his first Serie A goal on October 31, 2009 in the match against Juventus Turin to equalize 2-2 (final score 3-2 for Napoli). It was the first away win for SSC Napoli at Juventus Turin in 21 years.

On January 16, 2010 it was announced that Dátolo will be awarded to the Greek club Olympiacos Piraeus until the end of the season . The Greeks also had a purchase option on the midfield player.

Dátolo completed seven matches in the top Greek league by the end of the season and could not recommend himself for a permanent commitment. After the club did not take the purchase option, Dátolo was again part of a loan deal and then parked at the Spanish first division club Espanyol Barcelona for a season. The club was also assured the possibility of permanent engagement of the midfield player. This purchase option was ultimately exercised, but after Dátolo only played five league games, he was sold to SC Internacional in winter 2012 .

In the national team

On July 22, 2009, Jesús Dátolo was appointed to the Argentine national team for the first time for the friendly against Russia . 36 seconds after being substituted on, he scored his first goal for the national team. On September 5, 2009 in the World Cup qualifier against Brazil , Dátolo scored from a distance the connection goal for the Albiceleste .

He was nominated by national coach Diego Maradona in the provisional squad for the finals at the 2010 World Cup , but not included in the final Argentine squad.
