Jessica Pünchera (born December 11, 1982 in Pontresina ) is a former Swiss ski racer . She started in all five alpine disciplines , was twice in the top 15 in the World Cup , won a European Cup race and was twice Swiss champion .

Career

In November 1997 Pünchera contested her first FIS race , appearances in the European Cup followed from January 2000. On February 8, 2004, she was used for the first time in the World Cup at the slalom in Zwiesel . She achieved her first World Cup points in January 2006 with 15th place in the Super Combined in St. Moritz . On December 28, 2006, she fell in the giant slalom at Semmering , torn a cruciate ligament and had to end the season prematurely. On her World Cup comeback in December 2007 at the super combined in St. Anton , she again reached 15th place and two months later 17th in the super combined in Whistler . After that she was not able to establish herself in the World Cup, remained without any World Cup points in the winter of 2008/09 and reached the top 30 only once in the 2009/10 season .

Jessica Pünchera was more successful in the European Cup, where she achieved several podium places. On February 24, 2009 , she celebrated her first victory in the super combined in Tarvisio , and at the end of the same winter she secured the super combined European Cup victory with a total of 260 points. In March 2009 she became Swiss champion in slalom and super combined. In the 2009/10 season, however, Pünchera also had no good results in the European Cup, which is why she was dismissed from the Swiss-Ski squad in 2010 and had to prepare for the next season on her own. In winter 2010/11 she reached the points in two World Cup races. After the Swiss championships in 2011 , she announced her retirement from top-class sport.
