Jiří Brabenec

Jiří Brabenec (born May 25, 1911 in Nymburk , † June 19, 1983 in Prague ) was a Czech journalist and writer . He also wrote under the pseudonyms Eric Kraft and Jiří Zdeněk .

Life

After studying at the engineering school in Kladno in 1931, he studied journalism for two years at the Free School for Political Studies in Prague . He worked u. a. as a seaman , Jawa test driver and technical editor. After the Second World War he was editor of the daily newspaper " Mladá fronta " from 1945 to 1951 and then until his retirement in 1971 for the daily newspaper " Lidová demokracie ". In 1961 he made a trip to the Middle East and crossed the Sinai Desert on a motorcycle.

He made his debut as an author in 1943. He wrote contemporary novels , detective stories , historical novels , journalistic books and five science fiction novels , three of them in collaboration with Zdeněk Veselý .
