Jiří Novotný (born April 7, 1970 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player .
Life
Jiří Novotný played for Baník Stochov in his youth, at the age of 14 he moved to Sparta Prague , to which he remained loyal until 2003, apart from the first half of 1999, when he was loaned to Slovan Liberec . Novotný won thirteen championship titles with Sparta. In February 2003 he moved to the Russian club Rubin Kazan on a free transfer , for which he played for two years.
In early 2005 Novotný went to FK Siad Most in the 2nd Czech league and was able to celebrate promotion to the Gambrinus league there in June 2006 . In the winter break of 2006/07 he moved to Chmel Blšany , whom he helped to stay in the 2nd division. In the summer of 2007 he signed a one-year contract with the Slovak first division club MFK Ružomberok .
In July 2008 Novotný moved to the Czech second division club FK Dukla Prague . Although Novotný was part of the permanent staff, his contract was dissolved in the summer of 2009, as the club decided to bet on younger players.
In the 2009/10 season Novotný played for the eight-class Prague suburban club Všenorský SK. In the summer of 2010 he moved to FK Varnsdorf in the second Czech division , where he ended his career at the end of 2010.
Novotný, who played 33 internationals for Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic , is an experienced defensive conductor, whose strengths include the header game.
