Jiří Růžek
Jiří Růžek (born August 29, 1967 in Litoměřice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech photographer .
Life
He grew up in a family with no artistic background. Jiří Růžek lived in Litoměřice until he was seven. After that, his family moved to Libochovany , where he lived until 1989. 1981–1985 Růžek attended high school in Litoměřice, where he began to play bass guitar , and until 2005 also appeared as a singer in various rock , folk and jazz bands. 1983–1988 Růžek studied lyrics and screenplay at the conservatory , which is now named after Jaroslav Ježek . From 1989 Růžek served in the Czech army and during this time he experienced the Velvet Revolution .
In 1995 he began developing photos for a CD album for the band Please Don't Care . He later took photos for various rock bands, including his girlfriend Martina Cyrkvova as a model. In 2004 he moved to Prague , where he now lives with the architect and photographer Ludmila Foblová .
He is a member of the Syndicate of Photographers of the Czech Republic , the Association of Czech Photographers and the Czech Association of Photo Art .

Most of his works are based on photographs of nudes in black and white . Since 2006 his work has been published in magazines and his works are part of private collections. In July 2009, his work České středohoří (Bohemian Central Mountains) won the main prize in a photo competition organized by Reflex magazine for the best nude photography photo competition.
