Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa ( Tib .: rig 'dzin' jigs med gling pa ; born 1729 (or 1730 ); died 1798 ) was an important Dzogchen master and Tertön of the Buddhist Nyingma tradition of Vajrayana . He was born near Beri Gonpa Nyingma Monastery in Qonggyai County , Shannan , Tibet .

Jigme Lingpa is considered to be the incarnation of the Dharma King (chin. Fawang ) Thrisong Detsen ( khri srong de'u btsan ) and the great Pandita Vimalamitra ( dri med bshes gnyen ) and other personalities.

Inspired by Longchenpa (1308-1363) in visions, he summarized the different branches of the Nyingma-Dzogchen transmission into a uniform teaching system, which has since been known as Longchen Nyingthik ( klong chen snying thig "Longchenpas Herzessenz-Lehren"; English Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse) is the most important of the Nyingma Dzogchen systems practiced today.
