Jill Janus (born September 2, 1975 in Skyforest, California - † August 14, 2018 in Portland , Oregon ) was an American rock musician , DJ and former playmate .

biography

Jill Janus was born in Skyforest, California, in 1975 and grew up as an only child . In her childhood she was trained in classical opera singing. Janus first came into contact with metal when he was a teenager. The decisive factors were the tape trading with a pen pal from Germany and the music by the band Suicidal Tendencies . According to her own information, her vocal range was four octaves and she was initially a member of various opera ensembles.

In 2002 Janus was photographed for Playboy . Shortly thereafter, Hugh Hefner gave her a job as a DJane in his Playboy Mansion , where she played until 2010 under the pseudonym Penelope Tuesdae . Janus did this job because of the money. In 2009 she founded the metal band Huntress , with whom she released three albums. She also sang in cover bands The Starbreakers and Chelsea Girls. Janus also worked with Angus Clark of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra on a rock opera , in which she was a co-composer.

Janus was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 20 , and the first signs of the disorder appeared by the age of 13. She has repeatedly struggled with mental disorders, including schizoaffective disorder and dissociative identity disorder . In 2015, she had to have her uterus removed because of a tumor.

Janus committed suicide near Portland on August 14, 2018, at the age of 42. She was married to Huntress bandmate Blake Meahl.
