Jim Blair (soccer player)

James "Jim" Blair (born January 13, 1947 in Calderbank, Scotland , † April 6, 2011 in Keerbergen , Belgium ) was a Scottish football player . The striker played in Scotland, England and Belgium.

Athletic career

Blair first played for Shotts Bon Accord FC , in whose competitive team he made his debut in 1965. In 1967 he moved to the second division FC St. Mirren , where he shone as a regular goalscorer and rose to the first division. Here, too, he was successful, so in 1971 the league rival Hibernian Edinburgh recruited him . There he was unable to establish himself and returned to FC St. Mirren after a season. Again successful as a scorer, in 1973 Norwich City signed the player. In the First Division he played only six times and was without a goal. After the club was relegated to the second division at the end of the season, he moved to Belgium for KV Mechelen . He played here until the end of his career in 1977.

Blair died of natural causes on April 6, 2011, at the age of 64. In previous years, he had had an operation on his back and received an artificial hip joint.
