Jim Marrs (2010)

Jim Marrs (born December 5, 1943 in Fort Worth , Texas , † August 2, 2017 ) was an American author of conspiracy theory books.

life and work

Marrs finished a 1966 journalism -Studies at the University of North Texas with a Bachelor -Examen and then worked for several Texas newspapers. He has been a freelance writer since 1980.

His book Crossfire was one of the sources for Oliver Stone's film JFK - Tatort Dallas , which acquired the rights to it. Here Marrs argues that behind the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy was not the lone perpetrator Lee Harvey Oswald , but a huge conspiracy in which, among others, the FBI , the CIA , Cubans in exile , the armed forces of the United States , Lyndon B. Johnson , Texas oil industrialists and the Mafia were involved. As an argument, Marrs lists 103 deaths of people who were in one way or another connected to the attack. The advocate of the single perpetrator theory, Gerald Posner, contrasts this with the number of more than 10,000 people who were affected by the Warren Commission or other investigative committees into the Kennedy murder and who survived. The American political scientist John McAdams criticizes the fact that Marrs is arguing here in a circular argument: the death list should prove that there was a conspiracy, but the criterion for getting on this list is participation in this very conspiracy, whose existence it is should prove. The British literary scholar Peter Knight describes Marrs' book in his discourse history on the Kennedy assassination attempt as "a popular science, sensation-seeking surprise bag of conspiracy research".

Marrs also published books on ufology and pre-astronautics , the "new world order" and conspiracy theories on September 11, 2001 . In his work Rule by Secrecy from 2000 he took the view that the Protocols of the Elders of Zion , a basic text of global anti-Semitism , although they are a historical falsification of the tsarist secret service , nevertheless reveal a "deeper conspiracy", namely that of the Illuminati and high degree freemasonry . The last secret behind the alleged world domination of these secret societies lies in the fact that extraterrestrials participated in the creation of mankind.

Marrs was a member of the Scholars for 9/11 Truth . In the German-speaking world, translations of his books are distributed by Kopp-Verlag . Jim Marrs died of a heart attack on August 2, 2017, at the age of 73 .
