James "Jimmy" Daywalt (born August 28, 1924 in Wabash , Indiana , † April 4, 1966 in Indianapolis , Indiana) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Jimmy Daywalt made 19 starts in the AAA National series and the USAC series between 1950 and 1962 and made it into the top ten three times. In 1953, when he first competed at the Indianapolis 500 , he achieved sixth place, his best place at the race in the state of Indiana.

Since the 500 miles were also part of the Formula 1 World Championship between 1950 and 1960 , Daywalt also competed in six World Championship races. He couldn't score any points.

Daywalt died of cancer in the spring of 1966. The disease ended his career in 1963.
