James "Jimmy" Reece (born November 17, 1929 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , † September 28, 1958 in Trenton , New Jersey ) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Jimmy Reece drove in 58 races of the AAA National Series between 1952 and 1958 . As the best placement, he achieved second place four times. In 1954 he was fourth in the championship.

During this time, he competed six times in the Indianapolis 500 . In 1952 he made his debut on a Kurtis Kraft 4000 and finished the race in seventh place. He achieved his best placement in 1958 when he finished sixth. At the first start of this race he was involved in the fatal accident of Pat O'Connor . Since the 500 miles from Indianapolis were part of the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960 , Reece also has six starts in this racing series in the statistics. He couldn't score any points.

Reece had a fatal accident at the AAA National Race in Trenton in 1958 .
