Jiz Lee (born October 30, 1980 in Hawaii ) is an American national and an actor with a focus on the porn film industry . Since coming out in 2010, Jiz Lee has publicly seen himself as a genderqueer . Lee also combines both thematic areas in a queer political sense in journalism and in numerous public lectures.

Life

Nothing is known about Jiz Lee's birth name. As Lee pointed out in a lecture at the 5th Annual Five College Queer Gender & Sexuality Conference at Hampshire College in Amherst in 2014, Jiz Lee is a pseudonym. The first name Jiz refers to female ejaculation with recourse to the American slang expression jizz (eng. = Ejaculate). Other pseudonyms Lee used in films are Beau Flex, Jiz and Vasa.

Lee graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California and has a dance education. According to Lee, a cornerstone for her later career in the porn film industry was the collaboration with the Dandelion Dancetheater, founded in San Francisco in 1996, to whose ensemble Lee belonged before starting her film career. In a report in Hyphen magazine, Lee talks about dancing naked in front of an audience in performances with the dance theater group and feeling very comfortable with it.

Lee says of himself that as a child and adolescent he “always was a tomboy” and that today he sees himself as neither male nor female, but rather as non-binary . Lee claims to be designated in a gender-neutral way with the singular pronoun they . This is untranslatable in English, but the composite pronoun is sier like replacing binary name she or he proposed as an alternative. In his spare time, Lee trains to take part in triathlons such as the Ironman Hawaii . The reason for engaging in the sport was the death of a close friend, Lee said in an Arte interview.

Lee also had private relationships with film colleagues Syd Blakovich and Dallas. There was also a four-year collaboration with Blakovich on the performance project Twincest from 2004–2009.

Steve Javors of AVN Magazine recognized Jiz Lee as "one of the big stars on the queer porn movie set".

Lee's pornographic screen debut took place in 2005, with Shine Louise Houston's The Crash Pad for her Pink & White Productions production company. Lee originally only shot with people with whom he also had a private sexual relationship, in this case as a co-star of his partner at the time, Syd Blakovich. To date, Lee has filmed numerous scenes with playmates that Lee says they have a "crush" on, which is what makes these scenes special, especially when compared to mainstream porn. Further work with the production company Pink & White Productions and directed by Shine Louise Houston followed, including Superfreak , Snapshot and other parts of the Crash Pad series.

Due to the longstanding relationship with the production company, which is headed by director Shine Louise Houston, Jiz Lee took over the management of online marketing at Pink & White Productions in 2013.

Lee has made it a rule for porn films to only work with directors with whom they got to know personally before shooting and to only play in productions in which the performers act independently and on an equal footing, in the sense of the sociological term " Agency ".

In addition to porn films, Lee has also appeared in other renowned feature film and series projects that deal with issues from the queer spectrum, including Mommy is Coming by American director Cheryl Dunye , with a recurring role as Domina Pony in the series Transparent and in Sense8 , the Science fiction series by producers Lana and Lilly Wachowski . Some also directed.

Lee also processes his experiences in the porn industry in academic articles on the range of topics feminism and pornography as well as in the book project Coming Out Like a Porn Star , which was published in 2015. It gathers contributions from protagonists of the porn industry, inspired by Lee's fears and blockades about confessing to work in the adult industry towards one's own family. The critic Rich Moreland described the book as "a lesson in dealing with social behavior and prejudice". For Lynn Comella, the book is "evidence of the power of storytelling and the importance it has when sex workers tell their stories in their own words."

Political activism

Lee describes himself as a "pleasure activist". This includes the fundraising project Karma Pervs , which collects donations for the interests of sex workers by auctioning off artistic and erotic works. Jiz Lee is considered to be a pioneer for the visual and content-related development of the queer pornography genre, and also plays an important role in the visibility of genderqueer people in porn films. In addition, Lee has also contributed to the further development of feminist pornography and the representation of female pornography in film. However, Lee defends himself against the label Feminist Pornography on the grounds that the terminology gives the impression that pornography cannot be feminist in and of itself.

In addition, Lee advocates fair production conditions in the porn film industry as well as ethical principles on the part of consumers, with a special focus on labor protection rights and the sexual self-determination of porn actresses.

In numerous interviews and articles, Lee commented on feminist, queer and transt issues, especially of course in relation to the porn industry. Lee has also been invited to talks and lectures on queer sexuality and experiences in the porn industry by academic institutions such as Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley .
