João Bosco de Freitas Chaves or just Bosco (born November 14, 1974 in Escada ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . The goalkeeper was under contract with São Paulo FC until 2011 .

Career

Bosco began his professional career in 1993 with the Brazilian club Sport Recife . In seven years at sport, the goalkeeper was able to collect numerous titles with the club. In 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 they won the national championship of Pernambuco , and also in 2000 the Copa do Nordeste. At the beginning of 2001, Bosco moved to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . Via Associação Portuguesa de Desportos , he returned to Recife in 2003, where he again won the national championship with his team. During the 2004 season, the two sides separated after Bosco did not get beyond the reserve role. He then signed with the then second division Fortaleza EC , with whom he was able to complete the Série B as runner- up as number one between the posts . The following year they won the state championship of Ceará . At the end of 2005, the FEC sold its goalkeeper to São Paulo FC , where Bosco was able to celebrate his greatest successes. Shortly after his engagement, he won the FIFA Club World Cup with São Paulo , but was only a spectator at the victory as a replacement for Rogério Ceni . In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he won the Brazilian championship with the SPFC . In 2009 the club board extended for another year to the end of 2010. Between 2006 and 2009, Bosco had four appearances in the Copa Libertadores for São Paulo FC. During the same period, the goalkeeper made 22 league appearances.

National team

Bosco was first invited to the Brazilian national team in 1999 . He was last called into the squad in 2001. He never played for the Brazilian national team.

Life

Bosco comes from a poor background. As a teenager, he borrowed money from his siblings in order to regularly take the bus to soccer practice. He came into contact with alcohol and other drugs at an early age . The goalkeeper was married at the age of 17.
