João Evangelista Martins Terra SJ (born March 7, 1925 in Jardinópolis ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Brasília .

Life

João Evangelista Martins Terra joined the congregation of the Jesuits , made perpetual profession on February 2, 1964 and was ordained a priest on December 22, 1956 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Olinda e Recife and titular bishop of Bagis on August 17, 1988 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carlo Furno , donated him episcopal ordination on November 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were José Cardoso Sobrinho OCarm , Archbishop of Olinda e Recife, and Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ, Archbishop of Mariana .

On June 15, 1994, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Brasília . On June 16, 2004, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
