Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ (born October 5, 1930 in Rio de Janeiro , † August 27, 2006 ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Mariana .

Life

Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida joined the Jesuit order and received the sacrament of priestly ordination on July 5, 1958 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on February 25, 1976 auxiliary bishop in São Paulo and titular bishop of Turris in Proconsulari . The Archbishop of São Paulo, Paulo Evaristo Cardinal Arns OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on May 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Clemente Isnard OSB , Bishop of Nova Friburgo , and Benedito de Ulhôa Vieira , Auxiliary Bishop in São Paulo.

On April 6, 1988, he was appointed Archbishop of Mariana .
