Oscar de Oliveira

Oscar de Oliveira (born January 9, 1912 in Entre Rios de Minas , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † February 24, 1997 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Mariana .

Life

Oscar de Oliveira was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Mariana on October 27, 1935 .

He was on May 25, 1954 by Pope Pius XII. Appointed Titular Bishop of Irenopolis in Cilicia and Coadjutor Bishop of Pouso Alegre . The Archbishop of Mariana, Helvécio Gomes de Oliveira SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on August 22nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Rodolfo das Mercês de Oliveira Pena , Bishop of Valença , and Daniel Tavares Baeta Neves , Bishop of Januária .

A January 31, 1959 Pope John XXIII appointed him . titular Archbishop of Rhoina and Coadjutor Archbishop of Mariana. With the death of Helvécio Gomes de Oliveira on April 25, 1960, he followed this as Archbishop of Mariana.

He took part in the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a Council Father.

Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on April 6, 1988.
