The Diocese of Januária ( Latin Dioecesis Ianuariensis , Portuguese Diocese de Januária ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Januária in the state of Minas Gerais .

history

The diocese Januária was on June 15, 1957 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Laeto auspicio from cessions of territory of the diocese of Montes Claros and the territorial prelature Paracatu . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Diamantina as a suffragan . On July 5, 2000, the Diocese of Januária gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Janaúba . The diocese of Januária was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Montes Claros as a suffragan on April 25, 2001.
