Joachim Benfeld (born August 28, 1958 in Gevelsberg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Benfeld, who grew up in football at VfL Gevelsberg and with him, as champion of the Landesliga Westfalen Group 3 in 1976, was promoted to the Association League Westphalia Group 2 , later moved to Bayern Munich. In 1981 he was part of the professional squad for a short time, but did not play a competitive game and in the same year moved with his teammate Wilhelm Reisinger to Belgium for KV Mechelen, for which he was active until 1988, winning the national cup in 1987 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1988 . Then (until 1990) he played 23 times for RWD Molenbeck , made his debut on August 13, 1988 (1st matchday) in the 3-0 defeat in the away game at K St. Truiden , scored his only goal on March 19 1989 (26th matchday) to the interim 2-0 in the 3-0 home win over KRC Genk and participated on August 28, 1988 in the first round of the national cup competition (Eendracht Zele - RWD Molenbeck 2: 3). After his premier season in the first division followed - due to relegation - one in the second division , which he completed with the club as a champion. Then Benfeld moved to France for the second division club AF Rodez , for which he was active for a season.
