Joachim Kern

Joachim Kern (born May 9, 1944 ) was a football player in the top division of the GDR football association , the GDR Oberliga . There he played for Stahl Riesa and Dynamo Dresden . With the Dynamo team, he became East German soccer champion in 1971.

The first stop in Kern's football career was the company sports community (BSG) Turbine in Grossenhain north of Dresden . There he last played with the men's team in the third-class district league Dresden . After graduating from school, he completed an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. At the age of 23, he moved to the GDR league team Stahl Riesa at the beginning of the 1967/68 football season . With 22 of 30 played point games and two goals Kern was involved in promotion to the GDR league. With the Riesaers he played for two years in the top class of GDR football, played 24 in 1968/69 and 17 in 1969/70 and scored two goals each. As a rule, the 1.86 m tall core was used as a defender, but mainly played in the second year in individual games in midfield and in the attack.

In the summer of 1970, Kern switched to the district rivals and the East Saxon football performance center Dynamo Dresden. There he did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player. In the first season 1970/71 he was nine times as a defender in the starting line-up and was substituted on in two encounters. He contributed to the Dresden championship with eleven appearances. Dynamo also won the cup final, but Kern was not used there. In the first half of the season, Kern only played game days two to four. In the second half of the season he found ten league appearances in a row as a defender, but the 23rd matchday was Kern's last appearance in the league. He was called up again on May 14, 1972 in the cup final against FC Carl Zeiss Jena as a Libero, but the Dresden team lost 2-1. With that, Kern had 65 first division games, 41 for Riesa and 24 for Dresden within five years. In addition, Kern was used in three European Cup games at Dynamo. Until 1973, Kern played with the 2nd team from Dynamo Dresden in the GDR league.

At the beginning of 1974, Kern moved to local rivals FSV Lok Dresden , who were also represented in the GDR league. In 1976 he ended his career as a football player and moved to the fourth class BSG Progress Neustadt as a coach . He led the team in 1978 in the district league and in 1982 in the GDR league. Kern later trained other lower-class teams in the Dresden area, such as B. the SV Wesenitztal in Dittersbach , which he helped in 1994 to advance to the seventh class district class. Until 2006, Kern was the soccer department head at SG Motor in Wilsdruff and then took care of the promotion of young talent.

Kern is currently looking after various teams at Radebeuler BC. Among other things, he is co-trainer of the first team of the men and acts as head trainer of some youth teams. He is also head of the Radebeul football school.
