Life

Joachim Lambrecht was born in Heilbronn am Neckar in 1958 and has been playing in numerous bands as a drummer of various styles (rock, blues, jazz rock, jazz) since 1974, his focus being jazz. In 1977 he graduated from high school and completed an apprenticeship as a ceramist in the workshop of the Göllner pottery in Besigheim from 1978 to 1980. He then did his community service (1981 to 1982). Lambrecht attended the Free Art School in Stuttgart between 1982 and 1983 . From 1984 he studied sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with Herbert Baumann . Since 1987 he has been exhibiting at exhibitions - now also internationally, including at the Contemporary Decorative Arts Exhibition 2003, Sotheby's in London. In 1990 he completed his main course of study and then pursued a postgraduate course in sculpture with Inge Mahn in the same institution until 1992 . Since 1992 he has been working as a freelance artist with a studio in Ludwigsburg . He had his first solo exhibition in 1994. In 1995 he devoted himself increasingly to ceramic work. He lived and worked in Ludwigsburg. In 2000 he took part in the "Korea & Germany Workshop" in Busan ( South Korea ). Since 2004 he has had a studio in the castle courtyard in Großschönach . Lambrecht lives with his wife and children in an old farmhouse. He has teaching assignments, holds workshops and weekend courses, including in raku , a ceramic firing technique originally from Korea.

Works

Vases, boxes and free objects are Lambrecht's creations made of clay, fired using the raku process. But with his vessels and sculptures he is at home in both worlds: in free and applied art. He himself describes his works as follows: Simplicity, clarity, rigor are important criteria in the creation of my built and turned ceramic objects. Each piece is unique. The production is a tedious job. It takes up to a week for a vessel to be completed.

Lambrecht's work can be found in public collections (including in the Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe, in the Ceramic Museum Berlin, in the Grassimuseum Leipzig, in the Nature in Art Museum in Gloucester in England and in various galleries (as a permanent collection)), as well as at markets and fairs , as well as in private hands.

Awards

The artist received his first award, the “Kleinkunstpreis Baden-Württemberg”, in 1996 with Trio Des Arts and Peter Schlack. He received an international award in 2001 at the 2nd Cheongju International Craft Biennale in Cheongju, Korea, Honorable Mention. Various ceramic prizes followed. In 2008 he received the Baden-Württemberg State Prize for Design, Art and Crafts 2008 for three of his submitted ceramic vessel objects. The state prize is awarded every two years.
