Joachim Neubeck (born May 23, 1937 in Oberweißbach / Thuringian Forest ) is a former German football player who was active for Motor Steinach from 1964 to 1965 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football .

Athletic career

Joachim Neubeck began his multifaceted football career at the age of eleven in his native Oberweißbach with the later company sports association (BSG) Motor. When he began an apprenticeship as a toolmaker in neighboring Königssee in 1952, he joined BSG Motor there. With a special permit, he played with the men's team in the third-class district league Gera at the age of 17 . After brief stops at BSG Motor in Neuhaus am Rennweg (district league) and at Motor Bautzen in the newly established third-class II. GDR League , Neubeck became a soldier in the National People's Army for two and a half years in 1956 . During this time he got the opportunity to continue playing football with the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Cottbus , but was mainly used in the 2nd team, which played in the district class (5th league). Only once did he play a league game with the first team in the 2nd GDR league. After he had finished his army service, he returned to BSG Motor Neuhaus in the summer of 1958. Since GDR football was played every calendar year at that time, the season ended in autumn and BSG Motor Neuhaus was relegated from the district league.

Then Neubeck accepted the offer of the second division ( I. GDR League ) Motor Steinach to play higher-class football there. However, this did not happen at first, as he suffered a complicated fracture of the tibia and fibula immediately after the change. In addition, BSG Motor Steinach rose in 1959 from the first GDR league. It was not until 1962 that he was promoted again, and in the season 1962/63 (return to the summer-spring season) Neubeck came to his first second division games. With nine league games and one goal, he was involved in the march through to the GDR league. In the league season 1963/64 he was mainly used in the reserve team. It was only in the second half of the season that he replaced regular defender Horst Schellhammer in five league games. Also in the second Steinacher league season Neubeck was only a reserve player and was only called up in two league games. After the 1964/65 season Steinach rose again from the GDR league. There, Neubeck played three more seasons for Steinach, in which he managed to establish himself in the extended playing line. In the 90 league games up to 1968 he made 54 appearances and scored a total of 20 goals in each season.

At the beginning of the 1968/69 season, Neubeck returned to Oberweißbach and was there until 1972 player-coach of his former BSG, which was now called NARVA Oberweißbach. He led the team from the 2nd district class to the district league. In 1972 he ended his career as a football player, but remained coach of BSG NARVA until 1982. Later he was still a junior coach in Steinach and after the turn of the millennium helped the junior team of SV 08 Steinach, the successor to BSG Motor, to advance to the state league.
