Joachim Thalmann

Joachim Thalmann (born July 27, 1953 in Gütersloh ) is a German musician and musicologist .

Act

Joachim Thalmann studied school music , trombone , singing and musicology, first at the Detmold University of Music , and later at King's College London . After completing his Magister Artium in 1983, he became a research assistant at the University of Paderborn and received his doctorate in 1987 under Arno Forchert . From 1985 to 1989 he worked as a freelance journalist for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , the Hessischer Rundfunk , the Westdeutscher Rundfunk and the Second German Televisionbefore he was appointed public relations officer at the Detmold University of Music in 1989. There he worked since 2003 in the first master’s degree in music education initiated by Ernst Klaus Schneider at a German university and was appointed honorary professor in 2007 . From 2013 until his retirement in 2019, he worked exclusively as a university lecturer in the Institute for Music Education and Music Management at the Detmold University of Music. His artistic work as a soloist and in ensembles such as the Westphalian brass ensemble , the Westphalian trombone quartet , the ColVoc and the vocal quartet Drops has taken him to all parts of the world and is documented in numerous television, radio and record productions.
