Life

Joachim von Jeetze comes from the Altmark aristocratic family of those von Jeetze , whose ancestral seat was in the northern Altmark. His father was the landowner Henning von Jeetze. He spent his childhood on his father's estate, became a theologian and from 1512 worked as canon at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Stendal . In 1529 he became provost at the Benedictine convent Eldena S. Johannes the Baptist near Grabow in southwest Mecklenburg . At the same time he was pastor in Gadebusch and chancellor of Duke Albrecht VII of Mecklenburg-Güstrow . He accompanied him to the Augsburg Reichstag in 1530 . In 1530 he received a certificate from the city of Augsburg that he was married to Anna Stanger. Joachim von Jeetze, like Albrecht VII, was an opponent of the Reformation and received the deed of deposition during its introduction in 1547. According to other sources, he abdicated as early as 1543. He then lived on the estates of his family in Altmark. Von Jeetze probably died at the beginning of 1551.
