Joaquin Agrasot y Juan (born December 24, 1836 in Orihuela , † January 8, 1919 in Valencia ) was a Spanish painter of the 19th century.

Life

He studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia under Francisco Martínez Yago (1814–1895). He then finished his studies in Rome .

In 1860 he had his first exhibition in Alicante , where he exhibited six of his paintings. His artistic breakthrough came in 1864. He sent two paintings to the national exhibition in Madrid, including the work of art The Laundresses of Scarpa , which earned him third place at the exhibition. The picture was later bought by the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid. In 1867 he exhibited again in Madrid with great success. In the following years he traveled through Europe, he visited Italy, France and England. During his stays in France he was active at several salon exhibitions in Paris, especially at the exhibitions of 1877, 1878 and 1881. At the world exhibition of 1889 his picture A Shepherdess of the Campagna of León received an honorable mention.

He died in Valencia on January 8, 1919.
