Jobst Edmund von Twickel

Jobst Edmund von Twickel (baptismal name: Jodokus gt. Jobst Edmund Mauritz ) (born January 25, 1726 in Münster ; † October 12, 1782 ibid) was canon in Münster , Hildesheim and Speyer as well as official droste in Poppenburg.

Life

Origin and family

Jobst Edmund von Twickel grew up as the son of Johann Rudolf von Twickel (1684–1759, privy councilor and official coroner) and his wife Reichsfreiin Sebastiana Anna Charlotte  von Nesselrode zu Rath and Lüttinghof  (1698–1726) together with his brother Clemens August in the ancient Westphalian noble family from Twickel on.

Career and work

Jobst Edmund completed studies at the universities of Heidelberg and Reims and was sworn to the knighthood of Münster on February 5, 1747 . The following year he received by his uncle Johann Wilhelm as Turnar the Dompräbende in Munster . In 1750 he was appointed to resign from office in Poppenburg. After his father's resignation , Jobst Edmund received the cathedral priest in Hildesheim in 1751 and worked here as archdeacon in 1757 . He was awarded the Dompräbende for the Speyer Cathedral in 1769. Ten years later he was a cathedral waiter in Münster. Jobst Edmund was a subdeacon and was considered an opponent of Minister Franz von Fürstenberg . Shortly before his death, he gave up prebende in Münster in favor of his brother Clemens August. The turnar refused to approve. The Reichshofrat confirmed this decision. Therefore, after his death, the prebend went to Ferdinand August Freiherr von Spiegel. Jobst Edmund was buried in Münster Cathedral.
