Johann Rudolf von Twickel

Johann Rudolf von Twickel (baptismal name Johann Rudolf Ernst Benedikt) (born October 22, 1684 in Havixbeck , † October 22, 1759 in Münster ) was a privy councilor and official resident in the Rheine-Bevergern office.

Life

Origin and family

Johann Rudolf von Twickel was born the son of  Christoph Bernhard von Twickel  (1654–1719, Amtsdroste and privy councilor) and his wife Anna Franziska Sybilla Droste zu Senden (1649–1730) and grew up with his brothers  Ernst FriedrichJobst Matthias  and  Johann Wilhelm  in the ancient  Westphalian  noble family  von Twickel  . On April 5, 1718, he married the Reichsfreiin Sebastiana Anna Charlotte von Nesselrode zu Rath and Lüttinghof (1698–1726), daughter of Freiherr Matthias Johann von Nesselrode († 1705, Drost in Poppenburg) and his wife Marie Luise von Brabeck zu Lethmate . The sons Clemens August , his successor in the Drostenamt Rheine, and Jobst Edmund (Canon and Amtsdroste) emerged from the marriage .

Career and work

After a training trip that took him to southern Germany, Austria and Italy, he first matriculated at the University of Siena and then studied in Reims . On November 20, 1708 he was sworn up to the knighthood of Münster and assigned to his father in the office of Drosten in Rheine. He was appointed to the official resignation on January 5th, 1719. In the years 1722 and 1723 Johann Rudolf was special envoy of the prince-bishop at the Viennese court and on December 3rd, 1723 he was appointed to the Privy Council . After the death of his wife in 1728 he studied in Rome and took over the cathedral preachers in Hildesheim and Münster from his brother Ernst Friedrich , which he later passed on to his son Jobst Edmund Mauritz. During the absence due to his studies his brother Johann Wilhelm took over the administration of the Drostenamt in Rheine. He was ordained a priest in 1748. Johann Rudolf held the following offices:
