Jobst Schöne DD (born October 20, 1931 in Naumburg (Saale) ) is a bishop emeritus of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church .

Life

After attending school from 1940 to 1952, he studied Protestant theology at church colleges and universities in Bethel , Tübingen , Oberursel and Münster . In 1957/58 he was an assistant at the Ecumenical Institute in Münster, whereupon his teaching vicariate followed until 1960 in Berlin. On November 30, 1959, he was ordained as a pastor.

His first pastoral position took him to Cologne, after which he worked from 1962 to 1985 as a pastor at the St. Marien Church (Berlin-Zehlendorf) and the Heilig-Geist-Kirche (Berlin-Spandau) . During his time in Berlin, he married Ingrid Germar and received his doctorate in theology in Münster in 1968. In 1978 the Concordia Theological Seminary of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod in Fort Wayne ( Indiana / USA) awarded him an honorary doctorate . From 1972 to 1985 he was superintendent for Berlin-West. On November 3rd, 1985 Schöne was elected bishop of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church and introduced to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Cross in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. He retired on November 30, 1996 and lives with his wife in Berlin again. Schöne is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Prayer Society .

Schöne dealt primarily with the celebration and understanding of the Lutheran mass liturgy and the altar sacrament in the SELK.
