Jochen Bartsch

Jochen Bartsch (born December 30, 1906 in Striegau in Silesia as Joachim Walter Carl Rudolf Bartsch ; † September 24, 1988 in Gauting ) was a German graphic artist , ceramist and illustrator .

Life

Bartsch studied ceramics at the Art Academy in Bunzlau (Bolesławiec) and at the School of Applied Arts Wroclaw at Paul Hampel . In Germany, Bartsch continued his studies at the Munich School of Applied Arts, among others with Fritz Hellmut Ehmcke and Walther Teutsch . He is best known for his illustrations for numerous children's books by James Krüss and Max Kruse . He also designed the covers of the first two German-language volumes of Die drei ??? . The artist lived in Gauting near Munich from 1938 .
