Jodhi May (born May 1975 in Camden Town , London as Jodhi Tania Edwards ) is a British film - and theater actress .

Life

Jodhi May made her first appearance at the age of twelve in the film Two Worlds . For this role she received the Best Actress award at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1988 - together with her film partners Barbara Hershey and Linda Mvusi . To date, she is the youngest actress to receive this award in Cannes.

Interrupted only by a brief period in which she studied English at Wadham College in Oxford , Jodhi May still works as an actress and can be seen regularly in movies, television productions and on British stages. As an innocently abused or highly intelligent woman, she is often confronted with a breakdown and praised for the emotional density of her portrayal as well as her various types of roles.

Jodhi May is of German-French origin, but is very reluctant to talk about her family and private life in interviews. She had important appearances as Alice Munro in Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans and as a maid in Sister My Sister . In 2002 she directed the short film Spyhole for the first time , for which she also wrote the screenplay.
