A best man to fall in love with (original title: The Best Man ) is a US - British - German - Hungarian comedy film from 2005 . It is also available on DVD under the title Ran an die Braut - Never trust a witness! published. The misleading title has nothing to do with the film Ran to die Braut . Directed by Stefan Schwartz , who also wrote the script together with Ed Roe .

In London living writer Olly Pickering is in a life crisis, since he has accepted an advance for a novel, he can not write more and lives with his best childhood friend - Murray - in Soho and works in a boring job in the publishing house. His life turns upside down when his buddy James, whom he knows from college, makes him his best man and he meets Sarah, the bride. Olly falls in love with her on the spot, but doesn't want to destroy the relationship between James and Sarah. His friends, especially Murray, see it very differently. Thanks to Murray, Sarah and Olly spend more and more time together, and strange incidents occur around James. On the wedding day, Olly, who until then believed in the good in James, realizes that he is cheating on Sarah and makes her way to church as quickly as possible. There he confesses his love to Sarah and reports on James' affairs. The wedding is canceled. Six months later, Olly and Sarah are a couple and celebrate the wedding of their two best friends Murray and Becka.

The magazine TV direkt 15/2008 praised the "good actors" who would "comfort you" about the remaining aspects .

Cinema magazine wrote that the film was "a very predictable romance, the charm and comedy of which came off the drawing board" and which would be developed according to the motto "until boredom do us part" . He lost "in trying to please everyone, in predictability, clichés and stale jokes" . This is "particularly regrettable" , as Stuart Townsend asserts himself "bravely" .
