Jodie Meeks (born August 21, 1987 in Nashville , Tennessee ) is an American basketball player who plays on the position of the shooting guard .

Career

Meeks played three years for the University of Kentucky before he was selected in the 2009 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second draft round in 41st place. After half a year with the Bucks, Meeks was transferred to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played for two years. 2010-11 he had his best season with the Sixers when he scored 10.5 points per game and started in 64 of 74 games. With Philadelphia he reached the playoffs in 2011 and 2012.

In 2012 Meeks signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. On March 9, 2014, he set a career record with 42 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder . Meeks ended his best season with 15.7 points per game. After the end of the season he signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons as a free agent . Meeks played two years for the Pistons, with only three games in the 2015-16 season after suffering a serious foot injury at the beginning of the season and being out for several months. For the last game of the season Meeks was then eligible to play again.

In the summer of 2016, Meeks then signed a contract with the Orlando Magic . Due to a thumb injury, Meeks was missing a lot of games and only played 36 games at the end of the season, with 9.1 points per game. Then he moved to the Washington Wizards . In 2018 he was suspended for 25 games after a positive growth hormone test .
