Joseph Roger "Joe" Brown MBE (born May 13, 1941 in Swarby , Lincolnshire , England ) is a British guitarist , singer and songwriter .

Life

As a teenager, Brown played with various skiffle groups, including The Spaceman Skiffle Group. Larry Parnes signed him in the late 1950s. Brown accompanied Eddie Cochran , Gene Vincent and Johnny Cash , among others . In 1960, he played the guitar on the album The Sound of Fury by Billy Fury . From 1959 Brown made recordings with his backing band The Bruvvers. Her hits include What a Crazy World We're Living In and A Picture of You . Brown and the Bruvvers were so successful in Great Britain in the early 1960s that the Beatles wanted to support them. On July 26, 1962, the Liverpoolers played as the opening act for Joe Brown and the Bruvvers at Cambridge Hall in Southport.

In 1962, Brown separated from Parnes and married the singer Vicki Brown . In the mid-1960s he turned to cabaret, pantomime, musicals and films. From 1965 he played three years in the musical Charlie Girl . In 1972 Brown formed Brown's Home Brew, which played country- oriented rock, but remained unsuccessful. Brown concentrated on his musical work again. In 1978 he was the best man at George Harrison's second marriage. In the early 1990s, Joe Brown made a comeback . In 1992 his successful album Come On Joe was released . Even after the turn of the millennium, he is still on the road as a musician. On November 29, 2002 he took part in the memorial concert for George Harrison . On January 26th, 2007 the album Down to Earth was released .

Brown's daughter Sam Brown from her marriage to Vicki Brown, who died in 1991, is also a well-known singer.
