During this period he was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the eighth round as a total of 232 players by the Pittsburgh Penguins , for which he never played.

For the Hurricanes, he made his debut in the National Hockey League during the 2007-08 season , with the left-shooter scoring one goal in six games. In the 2008/09 season , Jensen came exclusively for Carolina's AHL farm team, the Albany River Rats . After more than a year off (severe concussion after an accident with the team bus), he signed a contract with HC Pustertal from the Italian A1 series in August 2010 . In the early summer of 2011, he extended his contract for another year in Pustertal, ultimately staying with the Wolves until 2013. In the 2013/14 season he let his career with the Nottingham Panthers end in the EIHL before it ended in January 2014.
