Joseph Robert "Joe" Schobert (* 6. November 1993 in Waukesha , Wisconsin ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars as a linebacker . He was previously under contract with the Cleveland Browns .

college

After initially no university showed interest in Schobert, he came to a public trial training with the Fighting Hawks of the University of North Dakota as a walk-on . Through the performances shown there, the University of Wisconsin – Madison became aware of him, and he moved there before the start of the season. After his first season for the team there, the Badgers, he finally received a scholarship.

In 45 games, Schobert was able to set a total of 172 tackles and score 13.5 sacks . He also got seven fumbles .

For his good performance, he has been appointed to various national teams and has received numerous awards, including the renowned Jack Lambert Trophy .

NFL

Cleveland Browns

Schobert was selected 99th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and received a four-year contract worth $ 2.97 million .

Already in his rookie season he was able to establish himself and was used in all games, four times as a starter , and he was also called up in the special teams . If the 2017 season was disappointing for the Browns as a team - they couldn't win a single game - Schobert was personally able to provide consistently good performances. With 144 tackles he led the league together with Preston Brown and Blake Martinez and was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time .
In the following two seasons he played consistently at a high level. He achieved four interceptions in 2019 alone .
