Joseph Michael "Joey" Graceffa (born May 16, 1991 in Marlborough , Massachusetts ) is an American actor, writer and web video producer .
life and career
1991–2006: Early Life
Joey Graceffa was born on May 16, 1991 to Debbie and Joe Graceffa. Graceffa has two siblings; a sister Nicole and a brother Jett. He graduated from Marlborough High School in 2009.
2007–2009: Beginnings on YouTube
Joey Graceffa and his high school classmate and girlfriend Brittany Joyal started uploading videos to YouTube on their WinterSpringPro channel in 2007 . At that time he also met Shane Dawson , with whom he is good friends to this day. In 2009, Joey started uploading videos to his own channel, JoeyGraceffa .
2010 to date: Increasing popularity on YouTube and The Amazing Race
Joey Graceffa uploads daily video blogs on his channel known as vlogs. In 2013, Joey Graceffa and Meghan Camarena - also a YouTube personality - were candidates for The Amazing Race 22 . The two made it to stage 10 before being eliminated. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Joey Graceffa said, “There have been many bad times, but overall it was definitely good. It was an amazing experience and I would love to do it again. ”The two were later on a team again for The Amazing Race: All-Stars .
In late 2013 and early 2014, Joey Graceffa starred in his own web series Storytellers . Graceffa also joined the StyleHaul YouTube network in late 2013. In 2014, Graceffa starred in his own short film Eon . In the same year he played in Ethereal alongside Joey Pollari . From 2012 to 2014 Graceffa appeared in various BlackBoxTV short films. He also took part in the Fine Brothers' web series MyMusic from 2013 to 2014 . Graceffa was nominated for two awards at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards . He also won the Best Actor in a Drama award at the Streamy Awards in 2014 for his portrayal as Hunter Crowley in Storytellers . Graceffa was named one of Common Sense Media's "10 YouTube Stars Your Children Will Love".
In 2015 Joey Graceffa published his autobiography in Keywords Press Verlag, a subgroup of Simon & Schuster called In Real Life. As of March 2015, Joey Graceffa has over four million subscribers. In the meantime (June 2016) it has reached over 6 million subscribers.
In May 2015 Graceffa released his first single "Don't Wait". The accompanying music video was released on May 16. At the end of the video, Graceffa comes out as gay by kissing the other male lead. Graceffa also confirms that he is gay in his autobiography In Real Life: My Journey to a Pixelated World . He also confirmed his relationship with Daniel Christopher Preda on February 14, 2016, who had starred in his music video.
On June 22, 2016, the first episode of a YouTube premium mini-web series entitled Escape The Night was released. Graceffa starred alongside other YouTubers such as Shane Dawson , Eva Gutowski, Glozell Green, Oli White, Timothy Delaghetto, Andrea Brooks, Matthew Haag, Justine Ezarik, Sierra Furtado and Lele Pons . The first episode of the ten-part first season reached over 24,000,000 views and was renewed for a second season. The second season began on June 22, 2017, again with Graceffa in the lead role. YouTubers Liza Koshy, Alex Wassabi, Lauren Riihimaki, DeStorm Power, Gabbie Hanna, Jesse Wellens, Andrea Russett, Tyler Oakley and Tana Mongeau also appeared in other roles. The third season started on June 21, 2018 with Graceffa, Nikita Dragun , Teala Dunn, Safiya Nygaard, Manny MUA , Roi Wassabi, Rosanna Pansino, JC Caylen, Matthew Patrick and Colleen Ballinger in the lead roles. The fourth and last season started on July 11th, 2019. In addition to Graceffa, Rosanna Pansino, Alex Wassabi, Timothy Delaghetto, DeStorm Power, Justine Ezarik, Tana Mongeau, Colleen Ballinger , Gabbie Hanna, Bretman Rock, Nikita Dragun, Matthew Patrick and Liza Koshy played a role.
