Johan Kleppe

Johan Kleppe (born September 29, 1928 in Bjørnskinn , Andøy municipality ) is a Norwegian veterinarian and politician of the social democratic party Venstre . From October 1972 to October 1973 he was the defense minister of his country.

Life

Kleppe graduated from the veterinary college in 1954. Between 1955 and 1963 he was the parish veterinarian of Andøy municipality . From 1955 to 1963 he was a member of the local parliament of the former Bjørnskinn municipality. In 1963 he became the district veterinarian and deputy mayor of Andøy. From 1966 to 1969 and again from 1975 to 1978 he was the mayor of the municipality. On January 2, 1968, Kleppe became State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture . He held the office until July 31, 1969.

Kleppe moved into Storting for the first time in the 1969 parliamentary elections . There he was for a legislative period as a representative for the constituency of Nordland and until October 1972 a member of the parliamentary committee of his party. On October 18, 1972, he was appointed Minister of Defense in the Korvald government. He held the office until the departure of the government on October 16, 1973.

He then returned to his post as district veterinarian. Between 1976 and 1992 Kleppe acted as a county veterinarian for Northern Norway and then until 1993 for the Troms , Finnmark and Spitsbergen area .
