Johan Nicolaas Valkhoff
Johan Nicolaas Valkhoff (born February 16, 1834 in Rotterdam , † July 24, 1900 in Arnhem ) was a Dutch Romance studies , foreign language didactic and lexicographer.
life and work
Valkhoff was a high school teacher for French, English and German. He first taught in Breda and Heerenveen . In 1875 he became a school councilor and rose to the high school council in Friesland , from 1890 in the school province of Arnhem . He published numerous school books on the three foreign languages mentioned, above all a French-Dutch dictionary, which was edited in the second edition by his son after his death.
Johan Nicolaas Valkhoff was the father of Pieter Valkhoff and the grandfather of Marius François Valkhoff .
