Johan P. Olsen
Johan Peder Olsen (born August 14, 1939 in Tromsø ) is a Norwegian political scientist .
Live and act
The professor emeritus from the University of Bergen is one of the representatives of New Institutionalism in the social sciences. In addition, he designed (together with Michael D. Cohen and James March ) an alternative program of action for organizations using the trash can model .
After several years as a journalist, Olsen studied political science at the University of Oslo and at the University of Bergen, where he received his doctorate in 1971 and became Professor of Administrative Science and Organizational Theory in 1973 . From 1993 he was director of the Norwegian basic research program ARENA ( Advanced Research on the Europeanization of the Nation-State ). Olsen worked as a visiting professor at various US universities, in particular Stanford University .
In 2011, Olsen was elected to the National Academy of Sciences .
