Gisela Riescher

Gisela Riescher (born February 27, 1957 in Eichendorf ) is a German political scientist and university professor .

Career

After graduating from high school, Riescher studied political science , history and modern German literature . After completing her master's degree in 1982, she took up a position as a research assistant with Theo Stammen at the University of Augsburg. In 1987 she became a community as home with a work . Doctorate on the political-anthropological dimension of local politics , the habilitation followed also in Augsburg in 1993 with a thesis on time and politics. On the institutional significance of time structures in parliamentary and presidential systems of government. This was followed by substitute professorships at the University of Munich for Kurt Sontheimer and at the University of Freiburg for Wolfgang Jäger .

In the 1999/2000 winter semester, Riescher accepted a professorship for Political Philosophy, Theory and History of Ideas at the Department of Scientific Politics at the University of Freiburg. Riescher is chairwoman of the Freiburg Science Forum and, since 2009, founding rector of the Freiburg Center for Security and Society .

Research priorities

Riescher set eight main research areas for her chair in Political Philosophy, Theory and History of Ideas : Political Theory of the Present , Theory of Parliamentarism , Theories of Social Justice , Security and Society , Friends, Patrons, Faithful , who mainly deals with friendship, gift exchange and patron clients - Pre-modern relations, gender studies and politics and time and monarchy .
