Arno Waschkuhn

Arno Waschkuhn (born October 21, 1946 in Buchholz in the Nordheide ; † January 9, 2006 in Erfurt ) was a German political scientist and university professor .

Career

After graduating from high school in Uhlenhorst-Barmbek in Hamburg in 1966, Arno Waschkuhn began studying educational science and German at the University of Hamburg . He then moved to the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . There he studied political science , sociology and journalism . 1974 Waschkuhn at the Faculty of Arts was Ludwig-Maximilians University in Theo Stammen with a thesis On the theory of political institutions to Dr. phil. PhD. After completing his doctorate, he became a research assistant and lecturer in political science at the University of Würzburg . In 1983, Waschkuhn received his habilitation in political science from the University of Würzburg with a thesis on participation and trust .

After completing his habilitation, he took on the position of professor for political theories in the social sciences department at the University of Oldenburg from 1984 to 1987 and then became research officer for political science in the Principality of Liechtenstein and member of the Scientific Council at the Liechtenstein Institute in Bendern .

After reunification, Waschkuhn was appointed to the professorship for political theory and the history of ideas at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Education in Erfurt . In 2001 he took over the chair for political theory at the political science faculty of the newly founded University of Erfurt . Waschkuhn held this until his death in 2006.

Research priorities

As a scientist, Waschkuhn dealt with political theory , in particular with critical rationalism , critical theory and pragmatism, as well as political utopias .
